Timelines and organic visualizations

I have two to share:

The first is, in my opinion, a bad example of interpreting data into coherent visual information. In this image I find it to be very distracting and not-so-easy to get accurate data. It basically goes against the ‘simple is best’ Idea… It just comes off messy:

This second one I though was interesting because it takes a very effective approach to organizing data without relying on digital media. It’s just super simple and mostly based on the paper folded up on the tree stump. Just a nice way to tie the visuals to the information as well.
